Why I get Nothing Done

The morning starts, by definition, with feeding and letting out the dog. Follows is an account of my morning from that point on as everyone but Rook and I slept in:

Enter kitchen and pour a bowl of cereal, reminds me to make Jack's lunch.
Go to dining area to get lunch bag, see clothes and remember to put out outfits for kids.
Set out most pieces, short socks and pants for PJ, empty dryer to find socks, suggests putting wash in dryer.
Move wash to dryer, put dirty clothes from floor into washer, head to bathroom to get more laundry.
Passing the stairs, remember PJ's clothes and head up to get those down along with dirty laundry from upstairs. Wake up girls by accident.
Bring down girls, pants for PJ and laundry (no socks), put at breakfast counter and bring out cereal for choices.
Pour three bowls, including one for myself, get out milk and see soup for Jack's lunch, put soup in microwave.
Head to the dining area to get lunch pail again, see empty washer and remember laundry in the bathroom.
Head to the bathroom to bring out dirty clothes, put in washer, finish piling clothes for kids, hear the dog shake his head and remember his ear drops.
Return to kitchen to give the dog ear drops, see the half finished lunches and half eaten cereal.
Eat cereal while packing lunches, clean up after girls and send them to get dressed.
Leave almost finished lunches to help girls dress and remember PJ's socks upstairs...

Luckily by this time, Steve was up and actually upstairs getting the boys up so I was able to get him to send socks down without getting distracted again. This is not an anomaly in my schedule, this is a regular routine. This is actually better than usual because there were fewer distractions, less kids, no husband, no phone ringing, no hungry cats... can you imagine suppertime? It's amazing anything gets done around the house because I'm never able to work on anything from start to finish! And I wonder why I can't keep a thought in my head...

Ah, the joys of being a parent - constant distraction, working on five different things at one time, completing nothing! :D

hey...got news for ya...it doesn't go away. Yes, it gets a bit better but what you described will be a constant in your life...even when the kids are gone. Sorry :(
