Weekend Events

It's been a good weekend here in Hatchet Lake.

Friday we had a bbq with A&A, which was a lot of fun, especially because it was all OUTSIDE! Saturday was rainy, so I had no reason why I couldn't tackle the despised job of sorting clothes. The kids all have clothes that fit, and the summer stuff is separated from the winter stuff (but I keep the winter stuff out as I find they still need jeans and long tops some of the time). Elliot and Paxten have way too many clothes, Jack is lacking in summer wear. I bought a bureau on Kijiji for $20 for the girls' bedroom and overflow of clothes - Anna has some winter stuff set aside, but it'll be hard to know what will ultimately fit her. Sunday after church I spent some time with the kids painting on their walls. When we were expecting Paxten, I painted her nursery (now the spare room) and painted some things on Jack's wall (now the boys' room). I never did paint anything for E, and since PJ and Anna are in his old room there was nothing on thier walls.

Elliot asked for a dragon, and a catepillar. He also wanted me to paint a portrait of one of his favourite creatures "Super Hamster" in the tree I painted before.

(isn't that the cutest pic of E you've ever seen?)

Jack asked for a bunch of mice scurrying about his bed, specifically climbing his giraffe.

Paxten asked for a purple cat and a pink puppy (well she wanted a purple puppy, but I convinced her to do a pink one so there wasn't too much purple overload). I also painted a Tinkerbell, and another fairy and a army of ladybugs.

You'll see in the pics of the girls' room that we have Anna's bed set up. Steve thinks it looks horribly unfair that Paxten has a super-cool firetruck while Anna has a small wooden platform bed, but it won't matter as I don't suspect it will be too long before we find bunkbeds for their room. I got the girls matching purple bedsheets, which THRILLED Paxten. She also asked me to switch the reddish animal drapes in her room with the purple ones that were in the spare room.
Today we had a playdate, which is code for Chaos. My friend is helping me pull together a huge yard sale as a fundraiser! Already we have promised for sale: 2 baby swings, a carseat, a Little Tykes car, sleds, 2 gliders... add to that the SEVERAL boxes of toys I separated out this afternoon in our toy room, it promises to be a very successful morning if the sun shines!

Neat paintings .... maybe you can spend your idle moments decorating kids bedrooms ... Guess you would not get much business as you have too few idle moments :)

Nice pics,
