Finally BEIJING!

We’re here! Inside International Gates in Toronto - our plane is just through the window.

Ready to go! and this is how Steve looked for most of the flight. AND, what he looks like right now, in fact.

The flight was uneventful, especially for Steve who slept at least 12 of the 13 hours we were flying. He even dozed in the bus on the way to the hotel. I was trying to get pictures while in the air, but my camera doesn’t like the double paned glass of the plane. It was amazing to see the mountains and rivers and tables of rice fields.

The Beijing aiport is amazing and it’s sooo neat to see all the Olympic and ParaOlympic material there. Customs was easy, if daunting and our baggage came quickly. We were met by our guide, Jessica or JingJing and drove to our hotel which is very nice.

We’re taking turns showering off the grime of travelling all night, and feel pretty good going into the evening. I slept about an hour and a half or two hours, Julie got two or three hours, so we’re hoping to be ready to sleep relatively early. We have a wakeup call for 4:30am as we have to leave for the airport at 5:30 to catch a plane to Lanzhou (which is apparently pronounced LANzhoo, not lanZOW as I’ve been saying it). Until bedtime, we’re going to go out for a walk, find a power adaptor, some dinner and some photo ops!
