Fantastic Family Weekend!

We've had a great couple of days.

Yesterday I slept in while Steve played with the kids. I get to sleep in most Saturdays. He's awesome like that. I got up and we went into the Park to get a swing for AnnaWen to replace the baby one. I made Steve leave the baby one up even though our Munsters had outgrown it, anticipating Anna using it since we originally thought she'd be around 12 months old. I love shopping as a family, it's sooo much fun. My favourite part is when we get separated from Steve and I coax the kids to call "1...2...3... DADDY!" at the top of their lungs through the store to find him. After that we went to walk Rook at the dog park. Usually this is something I do alone, which is okay b/c it's very special time for Rookie and I, but it was wonderful to go as a family. It's the first time we've done so b/c I've been hesitant to take the kids there. The dogs we meet are usually friendly, but there can be some pretty intense chases and I'm worried about the kids getting in the way and being knocked over. I certainly couldn't take the kids and the dog myself... Rook isn't above running off down a path (he did so yesterday) and I can't leave a kid to chase a dog, and can't NOT chase the dog... After the dog park I had some big girl shopping with a couple of girlfriends, then came home to a bbq with A&A. The Q was long overdue... good talk, good food, a few drinks topped off by fishing with the kids off the dock. After A&A left, we asked the kids if they wanted to have a sleepover in our new Big Bed... A king shrinks up some when it's loaded with two adults, three kids and a 70lb dog.

This morning I took the kids to church and grocery shopping. We had a great time grocery shopping, they were good listeners, pleasant and helpful. By the time we got home, we only had time to eat luch before we had to head out to soccer. Soccer was "Family Day" so we all played - parents against the kids. Well, we all played except PJ who laid on the ground and whined - at least she didn't get stepped on. After soccer we went over to another family's home for dinner and a play date. They have a son between our boys and a daughter the same age as Tink then a baby who just turned one. The kids play really well together and the folks are great to hang out with and talk to. Home from there, we raced around to get dressed (out of swimwear into pjs) and go back to the dock to fish again.

Long story short, it was a weekend full of being together and just having fun. The laundry is piled high, the house is messy, but that doesn't matter - we had a great time. Throughout the events I felt anticipation. Not a longing or a missing as I've felt before but an excitement of who's to come.
