Toss out a bone...

When we receive a match, we will be called by the gov't of Nova Scotia. By thier rules, CB must provide them with our referral, they will review it to make sure it fits with what we've been accepted for by our application to the gov't of Nova Scotia and then pass it onto us. So, although CB is contacting families this week, we may not know if we've been matched to one of the ten children for another week or two after that as CB is not allowed to communicate directly with us.

Until then, we have a bone to chew on, as CB has published a bit more information on the ten children on the Yahoo chat line they use to communicate with their waiting parents. Here's the info as I know it:

The files of 10 children were given to CB. These ten children:

- included six girls, four boys
- we asked for a girl
- ranged in age from 12 months to five and a half years
- five of the children are under 2.5, five are older than 2.5
- we are approved up to 36 months, but our agency wanted to keep her younger than Paxten who is 2 years, 3 months currently
- are living in the provinces of Gansu, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Guangxi and Shannxi
- have one or more of the following diagnoses: cleft lip and palate (pre and post op on the lip), strabismus (eyes that don't look straight), syndactyly (webbed fingers), congenital heart defect and developmental delay.
- we were approved for cl/cp and syndactyly

One thing this bit of information reiterates is these are children, not numbers... I think when discussions revolve around waiting lists, numbers of files, wait times, statitistics, we forget that behind each number is a child and a life. In the grand scheme of things, each number may be inconsequencial but the life it represents is anything but.

Unfortunately, we won't know for sure if Anna's file is one of those being reviewed by CB until our gov't contact calls us, but this info makes me more confident she IS in this group. I think our multi-year wait has finally transformed to one of days, and somehow it feels just as long. Let's hope we can keep ourselves busy for the rest of the month!
