Seventeen...

I think it started with Kelly Gruber. The 1992 World Series Champion Toronto Blue Jays' third baseman wore 17 and so it became my lucky number. I've worn it on jersey's on several different teams and used it for passwords.

When Steve and I started dating, I remember there being "several" coincidental 17's between us, but now the only one I can remember is that his hometown is accessed by exit 17 off highway 102. When you're newly in love, that kinda stuff is magical (teehee). We decided to date exclusively early in the morning on November 17th, just by chance, and Steve sent me 17 long stem roses the next day. Until we had a real anniversary to celebrate, we counted months each 17th with cards and wishes... and to this date, most months we remember to wish each other "Happy 17th" at least in passing. When we planned our wedding, we looked for summer months where the 17th fell on a Saturday.

On April 17th, 2004, I hurt my back. I was 35 weeks pregnant with Elliot, and the back pain felt much like the back labour I experienced with Jack. I spent the day being monitored in the L&D unit of the IWK, thinking my baby boy would be five weeks early. My only disappointment that he wasn't coming early was that he wouldn't be born on the 17th afterall.

Tomorrow is March 17th. It would be a very appropriate day for us to get a call saying we've been matched to Annie. Not a very realistic hope, but would be a nice detail in a fairy tale.

the 17th is not over yet! The 19th is the 17th plus 3 (for the 3 beaustiful kids you already have!). The 19th would be appropriate as well.
