We had a GREAT family day today!
I slept in, which is one of the best ways to start a day! When I got up and showered, and everyone else got around to do the things that needed to be done to start the day, we headed out to Mom's favourite Hole for "brunch" - though by that point it was well past 11:00am which officially makes it LUNCH in my books. There we were met by Kate and a friend of my parents, and also by Capt. Steele and Big B. (aka Julie and Brian).
After lunch, the Corbetts and the Sampsons, joined by honourary Corbett/Sampson, Capt. Steele, headed out to the Ontario Science Centre for some learning fun. Aside from dead camera batteries, the afternoon was fantastic - and we only lost one kid once. Five adults for three kids may seem like a safe ratio but in fact it is dangerous as we all thought someone else had Tink while she entertained the staff and sent security looking for us. Bad Momma. True to form, the biggest attractions of the Science Centre were the long escalators and frequent water fountains. My favourite was the "sneeze" display - watching unsuspecting people lean in to see what the picture of the girl was going to do, only to get a facefull of mist sprayed in a fake sneeze. It was funny to watch everyone else get it in the face, but it made me jump and scream and made Jack cry when I tricked him into looking. Bad Momma.
The Science Centre closed at 5pm even though we hadn't seen everything we had wanted to see. We moved our party to the Rainforest Cafe (http://www.rainforestcafe.com/ - one of these days, I'll figure out how to hide the links in the text). Complete with moving animals - big snakes, butterflies, elephants - and thunderstorms on the half hour, I thought it would be a fun place to take the kids. Again, Big B. met up with us. Food was good, service was slow but friendly, kids were behaved, it was a nice family dinner topped with a "Volcano" a monsterous brownie, icecream and sauce concoction shared between the kids, Steve and Brian, Julie and I.
From there we raced home and dropped the Elderly Corbetts off as they were too tired to continue with our adventure. Steve and I took the kids to a late showing of H.orton Hears a W.ho. It was a cute movie, enjoyable in spite of PJ's wiggling in my lap. Steve and Elliot saw less than the whole thing dozing throughout but it's not about the movie, is it? it's about the Movies.
We finally got back to the homestead near 11pm and tossed the munchkins into bed. The three of them fell asleep in the same room, between two beds, within moments and without a peep. Go figure.
Tomorrow is another action packed day. We're meeting up with another waiting family who are hoping for a match in this recent group of children for a playdate at an indoor playground. In the afternoon we're hoping to catch my girlfriend Iwona for a long overdue visit. We head to the airport around 6 for a flight at 7:45. We land near 11pm, and hope to be home to my Rookie by 1am with the airport business and drive home... of course in my wisdom I kept my schedule intact for Tuesday with appts from 830am to 800pm. Yikes.
G'night! Don't uncross your fingers yet, we're hoping for news by Friday... again.

You kept your regular Tuesday schedule?! Hmmm....FOOL! :D
Glad you're enjoying your time there - what a rare treat!
And don't forget, when you get home you have to catch up on our scrabble games. Or wait, nevermind...I'll take the wins. :)
