Friday:
(on the phone on the way to the Valley to take Gram to a doc appt)
Gram: Hello?
N: Hi Gram! It's me, I'm on my way.
Gram: Yes? Where are you?
N: I'm just passing Coldbrook.
Gram: So you're not in the yard... where are you?
N: Coldbrook.
Gram: Oh, okay, but where are you?
N: Coldbrook.
Gram: Oh. I see. So where are you then?
N: Coldbrook...
(this lasted about three minutes, and did not vary from this pattern until I said "I'm close, I'll be there in a few minutes").
Later Friday (also on the cell)
Dad: Hello?
N: Hey. I'm driving back, doc appt is over.
Dad: Okay, how'd it go?
N: Good. Say, in the past you and Mom paid my expenses for trips to the Valley for Gram, does that stand for this trip?
Dad: Yes, send me a list and I'll get the money to you.
N: Okay... but what do you define or consider to be an expense for the trip?
Dad: Any expense you wouldn't have incurred had you stayed in Halifax...
N: Oh okay... so if I stayed in Halifax, I wouldn't have driven past the cop in Kentville...
Dad: (evil, unsympathetic laughter) YOU got a speeding ticket!
Saturday night (at the Lower Deck)
Stranger Guy: Hi ladies, how are you this evening? I just came over to see how you're enjoying your night and (interrupts himself) wow, that's a beautiful ring!
(teehee)
