Superstition vs. Reality

We built a swing set last summer, long enough for four swings and a tire swing at the end... First E sat in the baby swing, then Little Miss, but this summer the baby swing was mostly empty. Steve wanted to take it down, and put up a big swing in it's place so if the kids had friends over there was one more swing to be used, but I wouldn't let him.

Elliot has finally grown out of his five point carseat into a booster seat. We drive a Caravan that has a three belt bench in the far back and a two belt bench in the middle. The 5-pt was moved up to the middle to break up a fight between the boys (move them out of hitting range). We got the booster days later and put it into place in the back beside Jack's. When we travelled to the Valley this weekend with three kids, two dogs, two parents and luggage to match, Steve suggested we take out the unused 5-pt, but I wouldn't let him.

I need these things to be set up and waiting, even if they wait for months. Bending to the pressure of the superstition allows me to believe in the reality that the adoption will come to pass and the swing and carseat will be used, this summer or next fall or next year.
