AnnaWen LOVES to jump into the pool, and I love to watch her. She jumps with her whole body - arms straight up, fingers spread, legs flung back and the biggest grin on her face. Over and over and over. On land her moods are inconsistent. She can be giggling one second, and stoic, distant and guarded the next. She still has a blank, empty stare that makes my stomach turn - it doesn't come out as often as it used to, but it's there. But jumping... pure elation. I'm hoping that that's her true character coming out, that with more time, more trust, more maturity she'll learn to experience more life as she does when she's jumping in the water - joyfully, freely and completely.
