That's ME!!!
I shouldn't be. We are sooo broke from the renos and slow summer at the clinic. It really is the worst time to do it, but I had planned it at the beginning of the summer and told all my clients - it would be nearly impossible to get them back... and I need it. I need some time with the kids before everyone gets back into the race of the school year.
I have registered the kids for most of their activities. Steve decided they should not take Mandarin this year. Honestly, it was a fight at the end for them to go, and only Elliot says he wants to go back (he was very good at it). I would love them to continue, but it's expensive and one more appointment to make. Hopefully in the next year or so we WILL have someone from China living with us to expose them to language and culture, until then, we'll have to do our best... So, no Mandarin. They are all in swimming and music. Their music teacher has agreed to teach them all in one class, by directing activities at their different levels (the boys are about two years ahead of the girls). I managed to get them all in the pool over one hour - unfortunately that hour starts at 830 on Sunday morning. Elliot and PJ want to play hockey - Jack has decided he doesn't want to again this year. AnnaWen says she wants to play too, but she's too young, it goes by calendar year. SO, she happily announced she'd "play skating" instead. She's registered for that. Friday night I have the girls registered in dance, and the boys registered in karate at the new community centre around the corner. Unfortunately they don't overlap, but are back to back with a half hour in between. It'll be a busy year, but I've managed to keep Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday clear of activities, so no rushing home from work to take them somewhere. Steve figures basketball will be Wednesday night, but he coaches that team so it's just a matter of taking them with him. Last year the boys played ball and the girls were entertained by poorly paid older siblings on the stage...
Tired yet? Conviced I need a vacation to get reved up? PJ had her last day at Amy's daycare today. There was a lot of talk about her finishing up this week, but she seemed okay today and when we left there was no production. However, A&A came over after baseball for a few minutes and PJ had a very hard time going to bed. She cried and asked Amy to come up and give her a snuggle, then kept crying for a while afterwards, even when Amy had passed her off to me to leave and I laid in the bed snuggling her. I suggested I could call Big School and tell them she wasn't coming (just a little worried she'd call my bluff) but she rejected that idea outright - she still wants to go to school, thank HEAVEN, she just wants Amy to be her teacher there too. She'll be fine, of course, but sometimes growing up sucks.
