Daily grind

Every day is the same chaos, different schedule, different activities, different locations, but the same chaos... and yet there seems, at the end of the day, to be nothing "new" to report. Today tehre were some different happenings...

AnnaWen had an assessment with the Preschool Special Needs Team at the IWK. She scores WNL which is shop-talk for within normal limits for ALL skills - cognition, speech and language, social skills, gross and fine motor - ALL of them. There are some discrepancies between skill sets, for example between nonverbal and verbal cognition and between expressive and receptive langauge, which warrant further monitoring as she gets older. But for now, she's normal. Pretty great for a kid who had anything but a normal start and who came to us from the "Special Needs" list with a diagnosis of "Global Delay". Pretty great.

Elliot fell in gym class and smucked the back of his head off the cinderblock wall. The gym teacher called to check on him just now and said she could hear the konck from the other side of the gym. She said by the time she got to him he was fighting back tears and rubbing his head hard - it must have heard like f*ck for that boy to cry in public without a parent to hide behind. The gym teacher said it scared the life out of her - pretty strong words for an elementary school gym teacher with 20+ years experience. Course E's head proved to be thicker than the wall... he spent the day playing computer and hanging out with Steve, absolutely none the worse for wear.

Paxten spent the day with Grammie, painting her nails, eating out for lunch, buying toys and presents for herself and her Munster-Sibs. She had a blast and thrived on the scarse come by one to one attention of an adult.

Jack said something incredibly cute and funny and probably even insightful today after music. More funny than his announcement of late that he doesn't like Grade Two b/c there is too much homework. More insightful than his decision that he doesn't like getting older b/c getting older means obtaining more responsibilities. I thought about writing his story down so I could blog it tonight but decided there was no way I'd forget THAT one... and I did.

So, nothing is new afterall... we're as blessed as ever.
