Anni-Getaway

I wrote this a year ago... but should have waited until this year to write it as nothing has changed but a year and a kid and I just don't have the creativity to top that post, even for our Tenth. I've told Steve every year that THIS is the diamond anniversary and now that it IS the diamond anniversary, he doesn't believe me! For past anniversaries, we have done little more than a card and a kiss... most anniversaries spent fulfilling other commitments; work, family reunions, bday parties, etc. This year we decided MONTHS ago that this weekend would just be for us. We're both missing out on some pretty fun stuff happening this weekend, including Kelly's bachelorette party, but to us today (well, yesterday) is a huge accomplishment. Ten years! We're celebrating our team, and today (well, yesterday) is about that, celebrating the accomplishments we have made. We've worked hard to build a good marriage as a foundation of a good life, a good family. We've struggled with bad luck in terms of money, minor health issues, complications, but in spite of those obstacles - or perhaps because of them - we have a strong marriage that is full of fun, love, support, faith and honesty that provides everything for our four fantastic rookies.

This weekend we passed the Munsters off to Steve's parents and took off, just us. We spent yesterday walking the grounds of Acadia, in the chapel where we were married and in the gardens they built just after we left. I even got pictures of the kids and all of us on the sign, ten years to the day after we took a wedding photo there. We stayed at the Old Orchard Inn, where our reception was held. Today we slept in and lazed about then drove down to Yarmouth for a night over. We're attending a dinner theatre tonight, swimming in the pool and maybe ordering pizza since Steve probably won't like the fancy dinner theatre meal. Tomorrow we'll sleep in again, then drive back to reality, picking up the Munsters and the Pup on the way. We're having a blast - it's not often we get to spend time together without distractions and stress and we're soaking up the opportunity... Yay us!
