October 2006 is THROUGH REVIEW!!!
A recap: Once documentation is completed, sumbitted and accepted at the provincial level, a "dossier" or application is sent to the Chinese Centre for Adoption Affairs (CCAA) to ask them to adopt a child. They take those applications and "register" families. The date you are registered in their system is your Log In Date, or LID. Once logged in, the file is placed in the "Review Room" The CCAA has specific staff who are responsible for reviewing each file to make sure the applicants are eligible to adopt one if their children. Apparently (though not known for sure) one staff member is responsible for specific areas or agencies and chugs along through those files at their own rate. Once all the staff members have completed reviewing ALL the files registered in a specific month the CCAA posts announcing that that month has completed review. The files are moved from the Review Room to the Matching Room where another set of staff match children to applicants and send out referrals.
SO, October is THROUGH REVIEW!!!
Of course there's a "but".
As discussed, we were asked for clarification about my status with respect to PPD and medication. We sent the letters from my doctors to the agency who had them notarized and translated. By policy and request they had to send them onto our gov't official in charge of adoptions who FedEx'd them China. When I heard October was through review, I called to find out where the letters were. They were sent to China, leaving at 5pm on the 17th. I don't know how long FedEx takes... I suspect a couple days. A contact at the agency says if they haven't heard anything for two weeks after sending follow up documents they assume the documents were sufficient.
SO, even though our LID-mates are through review and breathing that sigh of relief, I believe we should hold ours for another couple weeks. Three or four to be safe.
Working this way, I may baby step our way through the winter to our referral with little milestones to pass - Christmas, Complete Review, Valentine's Day, my birthday and suddenly it's March! Oh wait, I forgot, I'm expecting June instead.
