It's been a crazy busy day...
At the last minute I called Amy to see if she had any spots and to my benefit two kids were sick so I dropped E and PJ there just after 9. Wen and I were at the hospital for a 945 with their ped. dental team. Of course we proceeded to wait until 1010 to be seen... She was sooo good and brave! She laid on the chair and let the dentist look in her mouth, poke her teeth, she said "ahh" and bit when asked, and let them take Xrays of her front teeth. In general, most/all of her teeth need reconstructive work. Typically in the orphanages, where there are so many more babies than nannies, the babies are "prop-fed", which causes "bottle rot". Also, it appears she was handed hard candy after hard candy after hard candy and had never seen a toothbrush. She will need stainless steel caps on the back teeth and white enamal caps on the front teeth, unless they find the decay is to the root in which case the front teeth will be pulled. She'll need to be put under for the work, which will take 2.5 to 3 hours in total. Poor girl. Nothing about the appointment surprized me, except I'm pleased they're going to try and save the front teeth as I feared they'd just pull them.
From there we raced to my office to meet with a city official to try and work out some of the Doom and Gloom issues stressing me out. I got some good answers, and while there are still hoops to jump through, and lots of opportunities for complications, but overall things are looking up.
We raced back to the IWK for an u/s of Wen's kidneys. We didn't have any concerns, other than her recent residency and care in China where infant formulas were found to have melamine contents. Our travelmates in Gansu were given formula that was recalled in the tainting scandal in September. In the adoption community, there were recommendations to have all recently adopted children tested to be safe. Her kidneys checked out fine... YAY!
Tonight is Jack's concert at school. He had one this afternoon that I had planned to go to but rescheduling Wen's u/s would have pushed it back to mid-late January and I wasn't willing to wait any longer for that.
