Tired. Very tired.

The rumour today is that the special needs programme in China is changing. All but 30 agencies world wide are being closed from SN adoption lists. Those 30 agencies will have access to kids but the SN will be much greater than those previously included (which assumes the more mild SN will either be adopted in the mainstream or left in orphanages). As I read it, there is speculation that the 30 agencies may have to compete for kids off the same list. If you're interested you can read the whole dirty deal here: www.ChinaAdoptTalk.com, which is the Rumour Queen. The RQ is loved and hated by those in the ChinaIA community, and dismissed by most agencies, but the information there is often right on the money.

There is no way this is good news.

When I read that this morning, my first response was to say "That's it, we're done". At EVERY turn, things have been complicated, more paperwork is required, wait times have lengthened, more money is needed but the outcome has become more and more questionnable. I'm tired. I'm terrified. I'm sick to my stomach. JUST when I had allowed myself to hope she was around the corner, she very well may be gone again. I don't know how much more I have in me on this one... for the first time in this process, I felt like quitting.

It may not be all bad...there are few comments on RQ that put a better edge to it, that are possibilities. I know it must be very, very hard for you tho - every time you start to get hopeful, you get kicked in the teeth with something else that is or could be bad. I'm so sorry!!

Yes, I hear you. Yet another moment when I'm tempted to put my fingers in my ears and say "I can't hear you!" but that wouldn't be me. Sigh.

I heard the 30 agencies were for the US only? Our agency directors are getting back tonight from a meeting with CCAA about this very issue so we are hoping to hear what's really going on.

Hang tight...
