But not a good one. Not a bad one either, just a pain in the ass one.
We got a letter from the Manager of Adoption and Children in Care with Nova Scotia's Community Services. The letter finally acknowledges the extending wait times for adoption in China and informs us that our Home Study will be expired two years after it was accepted (which was summer 2006). To renew it, we must complete an update which includes completion - again - of paperwork including Child Abuse Registry check, Criminial Records check, medical forms and financial statements (which is the most complicated for us being both self employed). It'll cost some money too, though I'm not sure how much yet.
The pisser of whole matter is, China doesn't need this, only the gov't of NS needs it. So we'll jump through the hoops, spend the money, submit our paperwork which will likely be placed - unreviewed - in our file on their shelf. Other provinces only require a "check in" call to answer a few questions to see if anything's different.
Sigh.
