Waiting Families pool party!

We've decided that monthly get togethers with other waiting families will help the wait go by faster... it'll chunk it up into segments that will pass faster than the 3 years we're waiting and provide us hope in the meantime. Wasn't my idea, but it's a great one!

Saturday we went over to the home of a family who are logged in at the end of September 2006, about two weeks ahead of us. With any luck we'll travel about the same time, surely within a month or two. There was another family there. Both families travelled in 2005 to adopt daughters. Those girls are now three; while the adults chatted on the deck they and our children splashed in the kiddie pool, swung on the porch swing and played in the Dora Pirate Ship. It was so good to see those two girls playing, talking, fighting over toys, generally EXISTING and proving that this DOES work. If it worked before, it has every possibility of working again.

The other moms feel the wait will not be as long as I'm fearing. They predicted end of 2008 to spring of 2009. I can't say that I believe them, but hearing their more hopeful predictions was a breath of fresh air for me and my cynical expectations.

I'm already looking forward to next month's festivities. If anyone happens to be reading who is nearby, or planning to be nearby, let me know and you're welcome to join us.
