Hey!
Sorry I haven't written in a while... I stumbled upon a gang of Little People killing an NBA star and became the prime witness for the prosecution. They had to put me in Witness Protection Programme, but wouldn't support my ER addiction with recordings of episodes so I broke out and made it home. I guess I'll take the risk to live in dangerous Downtown Hatchet Lake.
Either that or our fall has been pretty shitty with nothing fun to write about.
Let's see?
1. I totalled my car - everyone was fun, but the car was not and that's an expensive afternoon.
2. Our basement flooded with sewer back up.
3. We had to kick out our exchange student b/c he was a jerk (there's more to that story, but I'm not going into it here and now).
4. Our water softener went kaput and needed to be replaced ASAP.
5. The psychologist at my clinic backed out of her lease.
6. The combination of the previous 5 items resulted in us having to dump our "vacation savings" that we'd been hoarding for a year into a growing chasm of debt.
7. I nearly died from strep (okay... slight exaggeration).
and most recently...
8. A drywall screw that punctured a plumbing pipe in the wall when the house was built 9 years ago finally rusted and gave way, leading to a mysterious leak solved by cutting a 3ft by 2ft hole in my living room wall (on the plumber's SECOND visit, mind you).
Chalk it up to three months of rotten luck.
Other than that, we're great! The kids are fantastic and growing FAST. They are having fun and excelling in their extracurricular activities. They LIKE music this year, they all passed their swimming levels, the boys are thriving in karate and Elliot LOVES hockey. PJ isn't as enamoured, but seems to do alright once she's out there. Wen and I have hit the parent/tot skating hour on Mondays and have a blast together. As much as it saddened me to have PJ and Wen separated by a school year, I know it was for the best. AnnaWen can really use the extra one on one time, and chance to develop her own self and leadership skills without Someone hovering over her.
I should have written anyway, I know, if only to save tidbits like this one:
I was frustratedly amused with the kids and blamed Stephen with "Well they're YOUR kids", to which PJ clarified "No, Momma, we're YOUR kids, we came out of your Girlie Biz". Yikes.
Things are looking up. I'm feeling better (not at all to do with an increase in meds ;) ) and things may be falling into place. We have an opportunity for a new student in February. We have a break coming to do some family stuff. THe kids are amazing.
Hopefully they won't hide me away again for my own protection.
