Elliot likes his sleep. He's often the last one up in the morning and would be the first one out if he didn't share a room with a big brother who prefers to play. When he gets tired his personality changes - he becomes obnoxious (well more obnoxious), picking on people, pushing buttons and overall rangy. He also becomes super whiney. Lately both boys have been practicing the "but, why do *I* always have to... " whine, which goes well with "but SHE didn't". Fun stuff. The other night it started late afternoon and by the time I ran my errands at the mall at 630 almost every comment was a whine about how hard put upon he was. When I parked at a spot that wasn't in the garage he whined "But why do we NEVER get to park under there!" and I replied "I do it just to make you whine, Elliot". His response? "Then why do you ALWAYS tell us NOT to whine!" I can't win.
Jack appeared at the top of the stairs tonight, holding a burnt out lightbulb. The fool said "Look Mom, I have an idea!" and held the bulb over his head.
AnnaWen had a speech therapy appointment last Monday. The activities revolved around pronouns and gender labelling. When Jack got on the wrong bus (for the second day in a row) I went to meet him at the school with three Munsters and my Pup in the van. His teacher ran out to the car to touch base with me about him going to the wrong place for the second time in as many tries, but she came out on a cold windy day without her coat and was anxious to run back into the school. As she ran back AnnaWen commented "he cold, he not have a coat". Thinking it a great opportunity to build on the lessons of therapy I said "You're right, Wen, SHE is cold, SHE doesn't have a coat. She's a girl so we say 'SHE'". Paxten jumped in with "Yeah, SHE has girlie biz, but Rookie has a penis".
