Sh*t Happens...

... and this weekend has been full of diarrhea.

It started well enough with my Saturday sleep in. In the afternoon I went bride's maids' dress shopping with the bride and two other maids. It was fun, and we found a beautiful dress, but bitterly I ordered the biggest size. Then on my way to our monthly fellowship group, the car infront of me stopped too short and I ran into the back of them, then they hit the car infront of THEM. I have no idea what happened - I was watching the road, not speeding, not tailgating and all of the sudden they were stopped and I couldn't. Blessedly no one was hurt, though the girls' complaints of pain in their chests (from the 5pt restraint) sent me to the kids' ER just in case - only to leave shortly after they were registered b/c the complaintants were spinning, dancing and running around the waiting room. Steve met us there after frustratingly trying to find us (I left the scene after giving my info to the young girl b/c I panicked over the girls' discomfort). The car - the new to us car - didn't fair so well... the hood is bent, both front lights are broken, the grill is broken and the bumper has a perfectly circular hole in it where the exhaust pipe poked right through. FAAACK as I said on Facebook. I ended up going to the fellowship dinner anyway, mostly b/c the kids really wanted to go. I announced upon entry that they were not to talk to me about it at all, and declined offered hugs explaning it would make me cry.

This morning we got to play mind games with ourselves b/c the kids seemed to sleep in an extra hour - they got up shortly after 8 instead of shortly after 7 thanks to the Daylight Savings Time spring forward. Again the kids demonstrated an atypical excitement at attending church so I rushed through preparations without the extra hour and got us there on time. In getting the kids out of the car on the curbside parking, someone drove through a slush puddle and soaked my back and legs - what kind of message should I read into that? Then when I got into the sanctuary and checked to see if I had enough time to take the girls to pee (I didn't) I realized my watch was cracked across the glass. Steve gave me the watch for my birthday (and Valentine's Day since I never get presents for both events) 10 years ago when we were engaged.

Of course I can read this whole story as half full - I get to stand in a wedding in a pretty dress, everyone in both cars were fine, I ... uh... have pants to get wet in a slush puddle? and my watch is still working even if cracked... I'm thinking I should stay safely home for the rest of today.

Thank heavens that this was not a typical day!!!! Doesn't help to know that we all go through them either.
I will pay to have your watch fixed honey 'cause you will get water in it and then it WILL be broken. Let me know how much and I will put it in the bank. It would be my pleasure to make your day a bit brighter :)

That totally bites about your new car! I'm glad everyone is ok, but UGH! Not a great series of events...things have to get better after that, right?
