Since I weaned Jack it became evident that I could not compete with Daddy. While I was the only food source, I was pretty cool, but once the babes realized they could secure food elsewhere Daddy became the Top Gun and Number One Cool Guy. I must admit, he is pretty cool, but sometimes it gets tiring. Sometimes it's convenient; the kids always want Daddy to take them to pee at restaurants, which is nice for me. Other times it's a hurtful kick to an otherwised bruised ego. Yesterday while we drove home for dinner Paxten asked if I had a meeting to go to. I said "no, daddy has a meeting and we're going to swimming". I swear she threw a fit, crying and whining saying "I want YOU to go to a meeting, I want Daddy to go swimming with us!" and variations on that theme.
It's bad enough being second best to Steve, but apparently Jack has usurped any position I thought I had. Jack swims from 530 to 6 while the other three swim from 6 to 630. Jack sits with one parent on the side while the other parent is in the water with Wen as her class is "parented". With Steve at his meeting last night, I asked if Jack could come in the water instead of sitting on the side by himself. AnnaWen was jumping off the side into the water and being very bossy: "Jack, you stay there! Mommy, no you, you go, I jump to Jack!". HMPH.

It ain't all sunshine and roses here in favorite land either. Though there are times that I feel really bad for Shawn as Fenway makes it very clear who her favorite is.

Things frequently do not play out as hoped for.
I know I'm definitely not as "cool" as Daddy....one thing he has going for him is the TRUCK. The twisters were ticked at me this past weekend b/c they were coming with me, while E got to ride in the truck with Dad. Hmph!
You are NUMBER ONE in my eyes honey but I know that does not really count!! LOL
The daddys are there so little: they get to do the "fun" stuff while the mommys get to do the "taking care of children" stuff. It is only natural. Who is that anonymous person anyway who does not have the guts to sign their name!! Put your money where your mouth is! (sorry honey:))
