While waiting for and focusing on something like a miracle to happen (such as receiving a child through adoption) time can seem to crawl. If you pull your focus back to the big picture, time flies. Today my first baby turns 5. How is that possible? He's five years old, which for the record is roughly:
1/3rd of the way to a driver's liscence,
more than 1/4 of the way to moving to university,
1/5 of the way to starting out on his adult life
1/6 of the way (if I'm lucky) to getting married, having kids...
When the wait for Anna seems unbearable, I remind myself how quickly the last year, three years, five years have passed...
